Jack Black

Jack Black ist ein US-amerikanischer Darsteller, bekannt aus vielen Komödien (z.B.: School of Rock und Abgedreht), in denen er schräge Persönlichkeiten darstellt. Jack Black war schon in einigen Spielfilmen aufgetreten, als er in Stephen Frears ’ hochgelobter Komödie High Fidelity (2000) Hauptdarsteller John Cusack die Show stahl. Damit eroberte Jack Black die Herzen der Zuschauer und feierte seinen Durchbruch. Darüber hinaus brachte ihm der Part im Jahr 2000 einen Blockbuster Entertainment Award in der Sparte Beste Nebenrolle und eine Nominierung für den American Comedy Award ein. Darauf folgend war Jack Black zusammen mit Sarah Michelle Gellar Ko-Moderator der MTV Movie Awards 2002. Die Show war die MTV-Movie-Awards-Sendung mit den höchsten Einschaltquoten aller Zeiten und die quotenstärkste Kabelsendung des Jahres. Im Herbst 2003 bewies Jack Black sein Kassengespür mit der Komödie School of Rock (2003) von Regisseur Richard Linklater und dem Autor Mike White, die auf Platz eins der US-Kinocharts einstieg. Jack Black bekam eine Golden-Globe-Nominierung in der Kategorie Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. 2005 war er in Peter Jacksons Blockbuster King Kong (2005) an der Seite von Naomi Watts, Adrien Brody und Colin Hanks zu sehen. Im darauffolgenden Jahr war Jack Black in dem Überraschungserfolg Nacho Libre (2006) von Jared Hess, dem Regisseur von Napoleon Dynamite (2004) zu sehen und trat unter der Regie von Nancy Meyers zusammen mit Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz und Jude Law in der Ensemblekomödie Liebe braucht keine Ferien (2006) auf. Als Leadsänger der Rock-Folk-Comedy-Band Tenacious D, die er mit seinem Freund Kyle Gass gegründet hatte, stand Jack Black darüber hinaus in dem Spielfilm Kings of Rock – Tenacious D (2006) vor der Kamera. Das erste Album von Tenacious D wurde 2001 veröffentlicht und brachte es auf Gold-Status. Jack Black war neben Ben Stiller und Robert Downey Jr. in Tropic Thunder (2008) zu sehen und sprach in der englischen Originalfassung die Titelrolle in dem Animationshit Kung Fu Panda (2008), der in den USA über 215 Millionen Dollar einspielte und in der Kategorie Best Animated Feature für einen Oscar nominiert war. 2010 spielt Jack Black die Hauptrolle in Gullivers Reisen – Da kommt was Großes auf uns zu. Sein Spielfilmdebüt gab Jack Black in Tim Robbins Bob Roberts (1992).
