Cate Blanchett

Catherine Élise "Cate" Blanchett (geb. 14. Mai 1969) ist eine australische Schauspielerin und Theaterregisseurin. Sie hat mehrere Schauspielpreise gewonnen, darunter zwei SAGs, zwei Golden Globe Awards, zwei BAFTAs und zwei Academy Awards sowie den Volpi Cup bei den 64. Internationalen Filmfestspielen in Venedig. Blanchett hat zwischen 1998 und 2015 sieben Oscar-Nominierungen erhalten. Blanchett erregte internationale Aufmerksamkeit für ihre Rolle als Elisabeth I. von England im Film Elizabeth von 1998 unter der Regie von Shekhar Kapur, eine Rolle, die sie in Elisabeth spielte: Das goldene Zeitalter (2007). Bekannt ist sie auch für ihre Darstellung der Elfenkönigin Galadriel in Peter Jacksons The Lord of the Rings-Trilogie (2001-2003) und der The Hobbit-Trilogie (2012-2014), Colonel-Doktorin Irina Spalko in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008), Katharine Hepburn in Martin Scorseseses The Aviator (2004), Daisy Fuller in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008), Jasmine Francis in Blue Jasmine (2013), Carol Aird in Carol (2015) und Hela in Thor: Ragnarok (2017).
